Locksmith Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and replace locks on doors, cabinets, desks, lockers etc. including hinges, padlocks, electric panel locks, safety locks, tubular, cylinder, mechanical and electrotechnical combination locks.

  • Rekey pin tumbler locks, handfile new keys to spec, reprogram key codes.

  • Maintain master key systems.

  • Install and program electronic access control systems.

  • Respond to emergency repair situations promptly and professionally.

  • Modify and rework locking devices to accomplish special security objectives

  • Perform minor repairs to auto sliding glass doors and hinge/door adjustments

  • Perform preventative maintenance as necessary

  • Maintain records of work performed, including parts

  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment

  • Other duties as assigned

Locksmith Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in locksmithing is preferred.

  • Proven experience as a locksmith; expertise in commercial and industrial locksmithing preferred.

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Proficiency in using locksmith tools and equipment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment.

  • Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport

  • Availability to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift including holidays and weekends

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of a Locksmith, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment for a Locksmith is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.
